Client: PSI

PSI/Somaliland contracted IRADA to carry out a study to evaluate the feasibility and sustainability of the Tunza business model in Somaliland. The primary objective of this study was to assess the model's viability within private healthcare systems and its potential for scaling up to improve access to quality healthcare services. The study encompassed a comprehensive mapping and analysis of all private health facilities operating in the Sahi region. This provided a holistic understanding of the healthcare landscape, including the facilities' capacities, service delivery models, operational challenges, and opportunities for integration with the Tunza business model. In addition to the Sahi region, the study also included a targeted sample of 10 private health facilities located in Hargeisa, Somaliland's capital and largest urban center. This inclusion allowed for a comparative assessment, shedding light on the potential differences in the model's applicability between rural and urban healthcare settings. The findings of this study were intended to provide actionable recommendations for PSI/Somaliland, guiding their efforts to strengthen private healthcare systems and enhance the Tunza model’s contribution to improving healthcare accessibility and quality across Somaliland.
